Mary Katherine Bond-Preserver of Beloit’s African American History

Mrs. Bond was preserving Beloit’s African American history as far back as the late 1940’s. Her small gesture of clipping Beloit Daily News articles that featured African Americans produced a treasure trove of pictures. These articles, now yellow with age, gives a glimpse into the lives of the Beloit African American community. Oscar Bond, the son of Mrs. Bond, saved her collection of articles and sent them to me last year. It was like going through a time capsule, seeing the names and faces of many of the people I know well. I’m sharing some of the articles with you today, enjoy! Thanks Oscar!
